UK
The Bank of England, in partnership
with industry and other UK financial
authorities (HM Treasury and
Financial Conduct Authority),
hosted a one-day exercise
designed to test the financial
sector’s resilience to a major
cyberincident impacting the UK.
This exercise was a vital part of
the sector-wide biennial process
to ensure the industry is prepared
for – and can respond effectively
to – any major disruption stemming
from a cyberincident, protecting
the financial system on which the
public relies.
GLOBAL
Kaspersky Lab researchers have discovered a wave of
cyberespionage targeted attacks aimed at Central Asian
diplomatic organisations.
The trojan called ‘Octopus’, disguised as a version of a popular
and legitimate online messenger, was attracting users amid the
news of a possible ban on Telegram messenger in the region.
Once installed, Octopus provided attackers with remote access
to victims’ computers.
