GO PHISH

to go back to my 20-something-yearold self and shake her into believing in herself more , feel less anxious and relax a little more . She used to be way too insecure and intense back then .
What do you currently identify as the major areas of investment in the cybersecurity industry ?
The use of AI technology to augment human efforts and people-centric security solutions is one of the major areas of investment I ’ m seeing today .
Are there any differences in the way cybersecurity challenges need to be tackled in the different regions ?
Yes – people behave differently in different regions across the world . Even within the same country you ’ ll find differences in behavioural psychology and this needs to be taken into account . For example , in Africa people tend to trust their peers and family members a lot , they also show a lot of respect towards their elders . This can be abused by social engineers impersonating others .
What changes to your job role have you seen in the last year and how do you see these developing in the next 12 months ?
I ’ m very fortunate to be in a position where I have the relative freedom to pursue what I enjoy and deep dive into what I ’ m interested in . My focus therefore changes with what is trending at the moment as well as what I find personally stimulating – for example , I really enjoy the deep dive into Web 3 and Metaverse security . There is so much to learn there and it changes every day . I also love the interconnectivity between mental well-being and susceptibility to social engineering attacks , leading us to explore mindfulness in cyber approaches .
I ’ ve been in cybersecurity for over 20 years , but I still call myself a beginner because things change so quickly .
What advice would you offer somebody aspiring to obtain a C-level position in the security industry ?
My advice would be to surround yourself with people who love learning and incentivise curiosity . I ’ ve been in cybersecurity for over 20 years , but I still call myself a beginner because things change so quickly . u
