BT launches new managed security service to protect UK firms

T has launched its new

B managed security service to help UK businesses and the public sector better protect themselves from the escalating number and sophistication of cyberthreats .

The overnight shift to remote and hybrid working has led to more employees and connected devices accessing sensitive data from remote locations .
This has led to a sharp rise in phishing scams and ransomware across the UK with new research finding that businesses suffer a cyberattack every 45 seconds .
Dean Terry , MD of BT Enterprise ’ s Corporate and Public Sector unit , said : “ Many organisations have had to radically change how they manage operations and data over the past 18 months , so it ’ s critical that they adopt cybersecurity solutions which provide visibility and protections across their entire estate .
“ That ’ s where we can help as their trusted technology partner . Our managed security service offering will protect our customers in real time , so they needn ’ t worry about cyberattacks slowing down progress , damaging their reputation , or standing in the way of embracing new ways of working .”
BT ’ s new managed security service builds on its existing suite of solutions for customers to help them navigate and manage the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape .

Trustwave launches new cyber risk assessment tool T rustwave has launched a first-of-its-kind cyber supply chain assessment solution for enterprises and SMBs in the Pacific region .

The service , called Managed Vendor Risk Assessment ( MVRA ), gives organisations access to deep , fully scalable cybersecurity vendor assessments formerly prohibitively expensive .
Nick Ellsmore , Head of Consulting Strategy , Trustwave , said : “ Part of the reason we built MVRA is our concern for the cyberresilience of the enterprise space .
Demand for this solution has been driven by organisations increasingly reliant on external vendors for the provision of data processing and storage services , as well as a range of other cloud-based or security-sensitive services .
In addition , recent supply chain breaches discussed extensively in the media , including the SolarWinds Orion breach , have raised awareness of the need to move away from ad hoc vendor assessments or those built solely on technology which frequently miss vulnerabilities or lead to bad commercial outcomes for both parties .
“ We are encountering gaps in organisations where vendors are left unassessed because of the perceived cost . MVRA gives organisations the ability to assess a large number of vendors with a consistency of measurement not possible before , while still leveraging the expertise of genuine security consultants .
“ For these organisations and the wider community , scalability brings safety .”
