CISOS REVEAL THEIR TOP PRIORITIES FOR THE YEAR AHEAD

Cybersecurity company , Lumu Technologies , reached out to cybersecurity professionals to understand which initiatives they will be focusing their efforts on in 2021 .

Technologies has revealed the extent to which securing remote workforces is a priority for CISOs , particularly as COVID-19 has impacted the business world on a global scale .
A total of 94 % of respondents said that securing their remote workforce was their most urgent priority of 2021 , which might not come as a surprise as workforces adapt to the ‘ new normal ’.
Automating detection and response was also considered a top priority ( 84 %), along with risk-based vulnerability management , of which 83 % of respondents voted .
A total of 81 % of those surveyed realise the need to prioritise extended detection and response , and 81 % deemed cloud security management to be urgent .
A large number of respondents ( 77 %) said they are planning to prioritise expanding threat visibility across all assets , while the same number of respondents said they plan to optimise their SOC alert management systems .
Interestingly , 73 % of respondents said they will prioritise threat hunting in 2021 , and 72 % said they plan to enhance cybersecurity testing beyond penetration testing .
Data classification and protection is still going to be an area of focus in 2021 , according to 71 % of respondents , and 70 % said they are realising the importance of making measuring compromise a priority this year .
The SolarWinds breach has meant that 66 % of respondents now see thirdparty testing as a priority for 2021 . A total of 62 % of those surveyed will aim to prioritise cybersecurity team skillset assessment due to the shortage
