IT services provider , Sopra Steria , has confirmed that it was hit by a ‘ new version ’ of the Ryuk ransomware that was ‘ previously unknown to antivirus software providers and security agencies ’. Jamie Ahktar at CyberSmart , said : “ This is an example of a well-handled cyberattack . Employees were vigilant enough to catch the attack early , it was reported to authorities to protect other businesses using the software and security protocols already in place at the company ensured the damage was localised and managed .”

The UK ’ s Information Commissioner ’ s Office ( ICO ) has fined Ticketmaster UK Limited £ 1.25 million for failing to keep its customers ’ personal data secure . The ICO found the company failed to put appropriate security measures in place to prevent a cyberattack on a chatbot installed on its online payment page . Miles Tappin at ThreatConnect , said : “ The true impact of the 2018 Ticketmaster data breach has finally been revealed , with over nine million customers having their personal details stolen .
