Even before the COVID-19 pandemic , industry trends were pointing towards the need for data centers to be managed remotely . Increasing use of remote infrastructure models such as colocation , Edge Computing and retail digitization necessitated the use of tools that enabled data center and IT managers to monitor their assets , power infrastructure and environment conditions from any given location . new constructions and increased use of third-party managed services for remote deployments .

Then , the pandemic struck and infrastructure management changed overnight . According to IDC , 78 % of organizations experienced an impact on their data centers due to supply chain constraints , limited physical access and higher demand for services .
