Entel boosts connectivity for businesses in Chile

Entel has begun the deployment of fiber optics in Quilpué and Villa Alemana in Chile . The project will benefit 75,000 homes , equivalent to 80 % of all homes in both communities , and will ensure better Internet for citizens and businesses . It is set to be particularly beneficial to the healthcare sector .

This project is part of a complete fiber optic deployment carried out by the technology and telecommunications company in the Valparaíso Region . This began in 2020 in the communities of Viña del Mar , Valparaíso , Concón and Reñaca , with a substantial investment .
As a result , 40,000 homes were connected to this network in 2020 . In turn , during 2021 and 2022 , the company plans to reach 8,000 more homes in other areas of the Valparaíso district , such as Curauma .

Oi opens two more solar plants in Brazil

Brazilian telecom operator Oi has connected two more solar plants online to power its operations .

The two new plants , in the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás , add to the five existing solar sites the company has in operation . Oi aims to have 32 plants in operation by next year .
Distributed Generation ( GD ) and Free Market , with 100 % participation of clean energy in our consumption matrix .”
The solar plants were deployed in partnership with GreenYellow ; the two plants , in Nova Xavantina ( Mato Grosso ) and Padre Bernardo ( Goiás ), have an installed capacity of 5.38 MWp ( 16,550 panels ) and 5.54 MWp ( 17,050 panels ) respectively .
Roberto Zerkowski , President , GreenYellow in Brazil , said : “ It is a great honor for GreenYellow to contribute to this important distributed generation project at Oi , responsible for accelerating the operator ’ s energy transition .”
About half of the company ’ s energy already comes from renewable sources ; the company aims to reach 80 % by 2022 and 100 % by 2025 .
