According to the most recent Gartner study ( July 2021 ), it is estimated that by the end of 2021 remote workers will represent 32 % of all employees in the world , and as the reopening of offices under the new modality occurs , close to 51 % of those employees will work in a hybrid office-home environment , at least one day a week .

This presupposes , in the first place , less secure environments for the control and safeguarding of printed and digital information , as well as a high complexity for corporate IT teams in shielding the printing devices that carry out office tasks connected to a home network .
In Colombia , for example , according to statistics from the 2020 Cybercrime Balance of the National Police , during the period of the pandemic computer crimes have grown by 96 % with significant variations in cyber-criminal activities such as computer intrusion ( 108 %) and computer espionage ( 236 %). For this reason , accelerating Digital Transformation must also ensure data and document protection to close security gaps , either through software capabilities or device security features .
Secondly , with the change in productivity paradigms outside the office , challenges are also generated in the way in which printing and documentation services are managed remotely , with the adoption of cloud technologies being a preponderant factor for interaction , and synchronization of the digital contact points with applications and predictability software that allows meeting the demand for services , supplies , peripherals in advance to guarantee to sustain the agreements and service levels ( SLAs ) committed by specialized printing providers .
Finally , and not least , the impact of the ecological footprint is also benefited not only by the digitization of documentation processes – which were previously analogous – but also thanks to the reconversion of manufactured printing and imaging systems and devices , with reused components , designed for the lowest possible energy consumption and compatible with eco-efficient and environmentally friendly printing supplies .
