EL SALVADOR
El Salvador is looking to introduce legislation that will make it the world ’ s first sovereign nation to adopt bitcoin as legal tender , alongside the US dollar . In a video broadcast to Bitcoin 2021 , at a multiday conference in Miami being billed as the biggest bitcoin event in history , President Nayib Bukele announced El Salvador ’ s partnership with digital wallet company , Strike , to build the country ’ s modern financial infrastructure using Bitcoin technology .

NTT , a global provider of technology services , has just taken another step in its strategy to assist customers in their digital security journey through intelligent and innovative technologies that inform how companies understand , prevent and manage cyber-risks in real-time in an increasingly hybrid IT environment . The company is bringing five new services to Brazil that provide part of its Security Operations Center ( SOC ) in the country . New offerings include SOCaaS – Security Operation Center as a Service , Vulnerability Management , Security Device Management , Computer Security Incident Response Team ( CSIRT ) and SOC OT .

ARGENTINA
Google has announced the construction of another submarine cable that will run from the East Coast of the United States to Las Toninas , Argentina , with additional landings in Praia Grande , Brazil , and Punta del Este , Uruguay . Firmina will be the longest cable in the world capable of running entirely from a single power source at one end of the cable if its other power source ( s ) become temporarily unavailable . Firmina will improve access to Google services for users in South America . With 12 fiber pairs , the cable will carry traffic quickly and securely between North and South America , giving users fast , low-latency access to Google products .
Universal Electronics , the global leader in wireless universal control solutions for home entertainment and smart home devices , has started shipping voice-enabled remote controls to Claro Colombia , the country ’ s largest cable and telecommunications provider . The Android TV voice-enabled remote control is powered by UEI ’ s chip technology with Bluetooth Low Energy and Infrared control capabilities . The remote offers automated setup and universal control of the television , set-top box and connected audio devices through UEI ’ s QuickSet platform .

PUERTO RICO
América Móvil , a telecommunications corporation based in Mexico , has started an effort to establish 5G and Fiber to the Home ( FTTH ) options through its Claro Puerto Rico unit , the largest local telecommunications services company . Now , it is expecting a rollout of over 17,500 km of FTTH cable , aimed to reach over 450,000 homes and businesses by the end of 2021 . The telecommunications company also hopes to activate 5G networks on all Puerto Rican locations by doubling the capacity , and coverage of its over-860 antennas .
