EL AL launches new in-flight Wi-Fi system , powered by Viasat

EL AL Israel Airlines has announced it has officially launched its new fast , reliable commercial in-flight Wi-Fi service , powered by global communications company , Viasat .

EL AL was Viasat ’ s European launch customer . Since first announcing their relationship , both companies undertook broad market studies focused on in-flight Wi-Fi passenger demand , engagement and service offerings , including a customer beta phase to determine Internet package types . EL AL also began to re-energise its fleet ,
taking on new Boeing 787 Dreamliners , a recent addition to Viasat ’ s certified platforms . Fifteen EL AL aircraft have been outfitted with Viasat ’ s latest equipment , providing high-speed connectivity to EL AL ’ s mix of Boeing 787 Dreamliners , Boeing 737-900 aircraft and Boeing 737-800 planes . By mid-2020 , EL AL expects to have the majority of its fleet connected with the Viasat service .
Recently , EL AL held its ‘ inaugural high-speed Wi-Fi service flight ’, which flew from Tel Aviv to Paris on one of its new Dreamliner aircraft . There were 128 devices connected , many that were streaming movies , videos , music and even the World Cup semi-final .
More than half of the passengers were filming and streaming videos , posting content to multiple social media sites like Facebook , Instagram and Twitter .
“ Israeli passengers want to keep up to date and connected in realtime even when in the air ,” said Nimrod Borovitz , Director , Strategy and Business Development at EL AL Israel Airlines . “ We invested in the most advanced in-flight Wi-Fi product from Viasat so we could best respond to our customers ’ interests . EL AL chose Viasat ’ s inflight Wi-Fi system because they had the most advanced product .”

First cyberdefence exercise for German and Israeli finance institutions

Cyberbit Ltd , a world leading provider of cybersecurity simulation and IT / OT detection and response platforms , and Finanz Informatik GmbH and Co (‘ FI ’), the central IT service provider of the German Savings Banks Finance Group , have announced they held their first joint cybersecurity training exercise at Cyberbit headquarters in Raanana , Israel .

Cybersecurity professionals of all levels and professions from leading German and Israeli banks held a five-day joint exercise where they practised defending against a wide variety of the most dangerous cyberattacks threatening financial organisations today . technically . The teams ran simulations of different attack vectors currently looming over the financial institutions around the world .
“ FI is always pushing to stay well ahead of the cybercriminals ,” said Lutz Bleyer , Chief Information Security Officer at Finanz Informatik . “ I initiated this joint training to give our team a chance to work together with the excellent infosec professionals in Israel and learn from one another in a realistic setting .”
