EDITOR’S NOTE
W
elcome to the fifth edition of
Intelligent CIO Europe. This
month’s cover story is a case
study between Mondi and SAP and focuses
on Mondi’s migration of data to a more
advanced SAP platform. ‘Trending’ this month is cybercrime and
the money laundering process, and Dr Mike
McGuire, Senior Lecturer in Criminology at
Surrey University, argues in his report Into the
Web of Profit, that it’s time for businesses to
take a new approach to cybersecurity.
Mondi migrated its SAP Business
Warehouse solution to the SAP HANA
database and upgraded its SAP ERP systems
to IBM POWER8 servers to increase its
competitivity within the industry. The
customer experienced a textbook migration
and Rainer Steffl, Chief Information Officer
at Mondi, commented that he was very
happy with the solution. Dr McGuire reveals the figures that show
just how much profit is laundered each year
and the results are shocking. An expert from
Bromium informs us of how businesses are
making it too easy for hackers to steal data,
as defence systems are not fit for purpose.
Another case study featured in this issue
considers the relationship between Imperial
College Healthcare NHS and Tintri. The
customer wanted to improve its virtualised
infrastructure and chose Tintri’s scalable
storage solution to do so.
The Trust can now better manage its
performance and staff are able to use their
time more efficiently and be productive
in other areas. The new system has also
enabled the Trust to focus on driving value
elsewhere while Tintri staff managed the
integration, simplifying the whole process.

Focus’. Tullia Zanni, Head of Solutions
Marketing at Italtel, gives us her opinion
on how telecom companies must do more
to protect their networks and incorporate
various security measures.
points to empower quality Wi-Fi coverage
over all floors of Nexi’s buildings across six
locations, allowing Nexi to log in securely.
To round off the issue, we spoke to Sahil
Rekhi, Managing Director UK for RingCentral,
who lets us in on how he likes to relax
and unwind outside of the office and he
talks about his proudest achievements
throughout his career.

Zanni also refers to when Nexi, a provider of
digital payment services and infrastructure
for banks, enterprises, institutions and
public administration, turned to telecom
provider, Italtel, for more flexible access
to its networks within its main buildings,
while wanting to maintain the high level
of security required by its company policy.
Italtel installed more than 200 Cisco access
