Cisco helps to usher in new era of full-sized driverless racing champion , Tim Heinemann , from a state-ofthe-art simulator , located 82km away in Graz .
This sophisticated full-sized electric car was built by DTM technicians in conjunction with project leader , Schaeffler . Cisco provided the technology while Riedel Networks designed and built the communication network .
Cisco ’ s intelligent networking technology has been used to remotely control a full-sized electric-powered race car around a track at 200kph for the first time .
Conducted in partnership with DTM ( Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters ), the German touring car championship ,
Schaeffler and Riedel Networks , the historic drive took place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg , Austria on September 2 , 2021 .
The DTM Electric Demo car was raced around the 4,326m long track without a driver in the seat . The race car was instead controlled remotely by DTM trophy
The communications architecture of the car was specially designed and implemented by Riedel Networks to enable it to be controlled with Cisco Software-Defined Wide Area Network ( SD-WAN ) and the Catalyst 8300 Edge platform for the primary connection with a direct fibre over MPLS ( Multi-Protocol Label Switching ) link .
It is a fast and extremely reliable link and is popular with some Cisco customers for running select applications in their Cisco SD-WAN architecture over MPLS .
Workday and Deloitte survey finds CIO-CFO collaboration fuels business transformation
Workday , a leader in enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources , and Deloitte Global , have announced the results of their joint global survey exploring how digital acceleration – prompted by the pandemic – has influenced the thinking of Chief Information Officers ( CIOs ) worldwide .
The research finds that CIOs are helping to lead finance transformation and shifting strategies to meet evolving business and technology demands , with 70 % of CIOs surveyed having accelerated their finance transformation strategies by at least a year .
The report , A More Effective CIO-CFO
Partnership , is based on a survey of more than 600 executives worldwide . Findings reveal that individuals referred to as ‘ Progressive CIOs – which represent just 8 % of the total sample – take a specific approach to enterprise finance transformation and behave differently than their peers with regard to mindset , collaboration and technology strategy .
CIOs and IT leaders are facing increased pressures to adapt and accelerate their digital strategies – without disrupting critical business operations . As a result , Progressive CIOs have built strategic alliances across their organisations , with 90 % of Progressive CIOs reporting that their IT departments are much more integrated into other areas of the business than they were 12 months ago .
