New app helps schools cut food waste while ensuring safer menu choices for pupils

CivicaEats will allow pupils or parents to order school meals in advance , allowing kitchens to prepare only the meals required .
Pre-ordering through the app could increase take up of on-site catering by enabling ‘ grab and go ’ purchases and encourage healthy eating , through the in-app promotion of meal deals and healthier options . CivicaEats will also help to protect students , by removing unsafe options from an individual student ’ s choices in line with their dietary needs or allergy plan .
It is also fully integrated with Civica Cashless , an app which enables pre-payment to remove cash transactions on the school premises and improve the flow during lunchtimes . Menu choices and balances are instantly updated between the two Civica systems for a seamless catering operation .

Desigual teams up with MishiPay to test the mobile self-checkout shopping experience in physical stores

Desigual has announced it is deploying

MishiPay in stores in Barcelona and Madrid . The technology enables shoppers to scan the barcode of products and pay via their mobile phone , eliminating the need to visit a checkout .
Mustafa Khanwala , Founder and CEO , MishiPay , said : “ We are excited to see the impact our technology can have in transforming the in-store experience for Desigual ’ s shoppers while simultaneously enabling increased operational efficiency .”
Consumers are increasingly digital and , according to 2020 data , more than half of online sales on desigual . com are made via mobile or tablet and 75 % of traffic comes from a mobile device .
Javier Fernández , Head of Technological Innovation , Desigual , said : “ We want to respond to the needs of all types of consumers , regardless of the channel in which they shop , which is why we are committed to looking to the future and offering our customers an innovative omnichannel shopping experience , 100 % Desigual .”
This new solution is being tested in five stores in Madrid and Barcelona . Customers can download the application or access the web app once they are in the shop and move freely by scanning the barcodes of the garments they select .
