Guy ’ s and St Thomas ’ NHS Foundation Trust selects Nuance Dragon Medical One

The Trust recently established its Apollo programme , in partnership with King ’ s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust , to transform how its services are delivered and how patients engage with their own healthcare through the Trust .
The programme will provide an Electronic Health Record ( EHR ) system from Epic and supportive technologies to replace paper documentation and consolidate patient records for easy reference by clinicians at the point of care .

Nuance Communications has announced that Guy ’ s and St

Thomas ’ NHS Foundation Trust ( the Trust ) has chosen Nuance Dragon Medical One speech recognition technology as part of its Apollo programme , an ambitious Digital Transformation strategy to reshape the way in which it delivers patient care . Guy ’ s and St Thomas ’ NHS Foundation Trust , which also includes Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals , Evelina London Children ’ s Hospital and local community services , is one of the UK ’ s largest NHS Foundation Trusts , with approximately 22,000 staff .
“ Our collaboration with Nuance will enable clinicians to create accurate , high-quality patient records more efficiently , empowering them with better information and freeing them to do what they do best – improving outcomes for patients ,” said Robyn Tolley , Apollo Program Director at Guy ’ s and St Thomas ’ NHS Foundation Trust .
The Trust will integrate Dragon Medical One with the Epic EHR , allowing more than 10,000 clinicians to compile clinical documentation and navigate patient records using their voice instead of typing .

Nokia delivers managed infrastructure services for BDBOS public safety network

Nokia has announced that it has been selected to provide technical , maintenance and management services for the German nationwide Bundesanstalt für den Digitalfunk der Behörden und Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben ( BDBOS ) public safety digital radio network . Nokia launched successfully in December 2020 with all services and logistics sites equipped and ready for deployment , with employees trained and fully operational .

Over an initial four-year contract , Nokia will support mission-critical communications infrastructure across German national , federal and local Public Protection and Disaster Relief ( PPDR ) agencies . By delivering an extensive range of managed infrastructure services , Nokia will ensure the highest levels of network availability .
With responsibility for system upgrades at base station sites , Nokia will support a network-wide
IP migration program that will involve more than 8,000 technical modifications . By delivering this service , as part of the BDBOS Midlife Upgrade programme , Nokia will help to migrate Digitalfunk BOS network from TETRA TDM to IP . This will simplify system architecture , increase flexibility and facilitate integration with associated communications systems .

The BDBOS network handles approximately 47 million calls each month . The network enables fast , reliable nationwide , cross-organisational communications and facilitates efficient and safe implementation of complex missions – especially in crisis and disaster situations .
