Nokia selected by Telefonica Spain to complete its IP network transformation high-speed connectivity to consumers and enterprises , especially in rural and remote sites . Nokia has already been providing its IP solutions for mobile backhaul , Edge , core and peering as part of Telefonica ’ s IP Network Fusion project .

The operator designed the project as a platform for incorporating services into a single network infrastructure , offering advanced communications services and transforming the customer experience for mobile , residential and business services .

Nokia has announced it has been chosen by Telefonica Spain to bring 5G and Fibre-to-the-Home ( FTTH ) connectivity to more people in Spain by upgrading the operator ’ s IP network . This hardware and services deal is the final piece in a long-term architecture project that has positioned Nokia products across all layers of Telefonica ’ s endto-end IP network .

Its routers in the access and aggregation network will enable Telefonica to offer
Under the final deal in the project , Telefonica will deploy the Nokia 7250 IXR products , including the 7250 IXR-e cell site router for access and the 7250 IXR-R6 for aggregation . With the incorporation of this Nokia solution , Telefonica continues to optimise its network in order to offer high capacity and quality connectivity with wide capillarity in rural and remote locations .

Russian mining company chooses Orange Business Services IoT solution

Raspadskaya , a Russian coal mining company partly owned by British steel making and mining group , EVRAZ , has deployed an Orange Business Services bespoke IoT solution at its Russian coal preparation factory .

The system plays a key role in minimising the risk of mixing different grades and types of coal , thereby tainting supplies .
Raw coal is transported to different unloading bays in Raspadskya ’ s warehouse – a 40,000 square metre open-air storage facility – from its open-pit mines and is tagged for different grades of coal concentrate .
The challenge Raspadskya has is making sure different grades of coal are not mixed .
To ensure loads are put in the correct locations , Orange Business Services deployed telemetry sensors and real-time tracking ( RTLS ) systems using industrial outdoor Wi-Fi hotspots . Transport tags are attached to the trucks delivering the coal from the mines to the warehouse , which read data from the truck and the sensors . Beacons installed in the trucks ’ cabs alert drivers if they try to unload coal in the wrong grade bay .
“ We have extensive experience in the mining industry and this project highlights how the power of Industrial IoT in automating relatively simple tasks can make a huge difference to output ,” said Richard van Wageningen , Senior Vice President , IMEAR Region , Orange Business Services . p
