RETN deploys Ciena 800G to achieve industryleading capacity

RETN deployed Ciena ’ s Waveserver 5 – powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme – to deliver 100GbE and 400GbE interconnectivity to address growing requirements for bandwidth-hungry services and applications , while optimising costs .
Leveraging its existing architecture and Ciena ’ s 800G solution , RETN has achieved the highest standards of network performance and service quality , offering efficient network utilisation ( up to 800 Gbps per lambda ), lower latencies , enhanced security and reliability of services .

RETN , an international network service provider , recently deployed Ciena ’ s solutions to accommodate recent rapid increases in network traffic .

In addition , Ciena ’ s Manage , Control and Plan ( MCP ) domain controller is helping RETN improve network monitoring and management by using automation features and operational diagnostics to proactively identify and prevent potential connectivity challenges . This adds additional flexibility to support RETN ’ s short delivery time , quick upgrades and ongoing service standards .
Ciena ’ s 800G technology supports important paths in the RETN Eurasian network , connecting key points in Central Europe between Frankfurt , Amsterdam and Hamburg , where high availability of services and low latency are essential for applications such as content delivery , OTT services and video streaming .
“ RETN has established itself as a leader in delivering international data transmission services . With WaveLogic 5 , RETN can address network scale , cost and efficiency challenges , while forging a path to fuel our increasingly digital-driven lives ,” said Jamie Jefferies , Vice President and General Manager of EMEA , Ciena .

Nokia to lead the EU ’ s 6G project , Hexa-X

Nokia leads the way in the next generation of wireless networks as the overall project leader for Hexa-X , the European Commission ’ s 6G flagship initiative for research that will drive the overall 6G vision .

The project goals include creating unique 6G use cases and scenarios , developing fundamental 6G technologies and defining a new architecture for an intelligent fabric that integrates key 6G technology enablers .
The Hexa-X project has been awarded funding from the European Commission under the European Union ’ s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme , a significant step towards bringing together key industry stakeholders in Europe to take the lead in advancing 6G .
The stakeholders represent the full valuechain of future connectivity solutions ranging from network vendors , communication service providers , verticals and technology providers , as well as the most prominent European communications research institutes . With Nokia taking the lead , the Hexa-X project aims to connect the physical , digital and human worlds , firmly anchored in future wireless technology and architectural research .
Peter Vetter , Head of Access and Devices Research , Nokia Bell Labs , said : “ Even though there is still a lot of innovation in 5G with the release of new standards , we are already exploring 6G in our research lab .
“ In the 6G era we will see applications that will not only connect humans with machines but also connect humans with the digital world .”
