EDITOR’S NOTE
W
elcome to the third edition of
Intelligent CIO Europe. This
month’s cover story comes from
one of our case studies, which focuses on
a partnership between Tintri and KIREMA
Cloud Technology. The implementation of
Tintri’s cloud solution has enabled KIREMA
to offer an improved cloud desktop service to
its customers.
We were informed that KIREMA was
extremely happy with the partnership and
has even been attempting to promote Tintri
as a service to other companies. The system
means that KIREMA is able to compete in
the heavily competitive industry that is the
cloud, as more businesses are utilising cloud
services to better their performance.
We further explore cloud for this month’s
‘Editor’s Question’, as cloud is becoming
more utilised within the workplace and we
were interested in hearing how it is proving
beneficial to enterprises. We hear from
three contributors: Sahil Rekhi, EMEA MD
for RingCentral; Sundi Balu, CIO Telstra
and Lee James, CTO EMEA at Rackspace,
who give us an idea of the ways cloud is
assisting businesses and enabling further
improvements from a business perspective.

We discover how outsourcing is being utilised
in the IT sector. In one of our features this
month, we explore outsourcing and how
companies, such as Computacenter, lend
their services to other IT companies so
they can be more efficient. We also look at
how IT Niedersachsen, IT service provider
of the Lower Saxony state, has made use
of Computacenter’s implementation of a
state-wide rollout to convert over 8,000 of
the administration’s clients to Windows 8.1,
which contributes towards IT Niedersachsen’s
digital transformation. We discuss data security and data breaches
with BeyondTrust’s Vice President of
Technology, Morey J Haber, for our ‘CIO
Opinion’ section to hear Morey’s opinion of
the lengths to which he believes businesses
should be going to prevent cyberattacks at
any cost.
Companies also appear to be carrying
out digital transformation through the
IT mobility sector, which is the subject of
another of our features for this month’s
issue. We learn how enterprises are
experiencing improved services as a result of
communication mobility. I hope you enjoy this issue and if you are
interested in contributing to any future
issues, please do not hesitate to get in touch
with me at: [email protected]
To round off this month’s issue, we ‘Get To
Know’ Francis O’Haire, Group Technology
Director at DataSolutions to hear of his
interest in Information Technology and how
he relaxes and unwinds outside of the office.
We look closely at the partnership between
Gigaset and NFON, which worked together
to provide Gigaset’s customers with a state-
of-the-art telephone system from the cloud.
We also look at how business mobility in the
form of mobile apps enable employees to be
available at all times.
