EDITOR’S NOTE Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent CIO Europe where we explore all things trending and developing across the region within the IT sphere. We hear from various industry experts who offer their best practice advice on current hot topics of discussion. On the cover this month is Konstantin Kostenarov, Chief Technology Officer, Ducati Motor Holding, who tells us how the automotive manufacturer accelerated its Digital Transformation journey on the road to hybrid cloud. We hear how NetApp’s solution enabled Ducati to tap into the full value of its data that it so widely uses for excellent performance, and how it now allows for game-changing innovation. Ducati was extremely pleased with how NetApp helped to improve all-round business success and Ducati can now capitalise on today’s business opportunities while innovating for tomorrow, according to Kostenarov. Embracing change is also the focus of this month’s ‘CIO Opinion’ as we hear how CIOs can lead by example to embrace the ‘new normal’. The ‘new normal’ refers to the transformations we have now become accustomed to as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with workforces adapting to more remote ways of working. Mohammed Arafat, Presales Director, Micro Focus Emerging Markets, talks about the crucial role CIOs must play in leading this change and ensuring their businesses have the digital infrastructure and tools to survive during these unprecedented times. The pandemic has caused a rise in cyberattacks as users are working more remotely, making them more vulnerable. We therefore consider how businesses can bolster their cyberdefences in light of COVID-19. Experts from Alert Logic; Tenable; and HackerOne, discuss this in further detail. This issue, we also consider how technology is offering innovative opportunities for the healthcare sector at a time when it is needed most. Technology vendors are working to keep people connected to their loved ones during the health crisis and are ultimately transforming the UK healthcare landscape with their solutions. We take a closer look at how they are managing this, on page 74. As more businesses are moving their workloads to the cloud, Geoff Barlow, Cloud Architect at Node4, tells us how to do so successfully. He offers several ways a company can build confidence in their cloud migration project. This issue, we ‘Get To Know’ Simon Johnson, General Manager UK&I, Freshworks, who tells us how he likes to relax and unwind outside the office.
