And it is not by chance that, while accelerating its transformation, Telefónica redefined its purpose: “To make our world more human, connecting people’s lives.” Euskaltel, a leading convergent telecommunications group in Northern Spain, has also adopted different measures to alleviate the effects of the health crisis caused by COVID-19 and which, among other effects, has led to the closure of schools and ikastolas in Euskadi, Spain. In addition, it will also open specialised channels for Cinema. The Basque operator has also implemented measures to increase the mobile data capacity of clients with special cases. Euskaltel has adopted different contingency measures to tend to possible conditions that COVID-19 may generate in communication between people, institutions and companies during the health crisis that is currently affecting the country, including teleworking for its people and ensuring the continuity of telecommunications for homes and businesses. All the measures taken are based on the recommendations established by the competent public authorities in this matter, paying particular attention to the company’s corporate purpose, essential to ensure continuity in the business fabric in its areas of activity and the connectivity needs of its clients. In order to guarantee compliance with the necessary preventive and contingency recommendations and actions in the provision of services, Euskaltel has established a series of measures in accordance with the business continuity plan with the objective, on the one hand, to avoid/ reduce the spread of Coronavirus cases and at the same time ensure the adequate continuity of telecommunications services. n INTELLIGENTCIO 53
