Polynt accelerates integration
and global expansion with
new network
Proximus one
of the first
operators to
put Nokia
router into
its network
A
t the end of August 2018, Proximus
announced its programme to tenfold
the capacity of its IP transport network with
its TITAN project. Nokia and Proximus have
now announced that they are on schedule
with their ‘TITAN’ (Terabit IP Transport and
Aggregation Network) backbone network
upgrade with 165 out of 600 buildings
connected and 30% of 50,000 optical fibres
migrated after only seven months.
Proximus is one of the first operators in
the world to carry customers’ traffic on
the Nokia 7750 Service Router-14s (SR-
14s). Thanks to its unprecedented routing
capability, the new equipment will allow the
Proximus network to cope with the rise of
data traffic of the coming decade, boosted
by the ongoing Fibre for Belgium investment.
This router will also help Proximus to lower
costs by cutting energy use in half, offer
unique security features and enable a
superior digital experience for its customers.
P
olynt, a leading provider of chemical
composites used in the production of
plastics, paints, inks and adhesives, has
signed a five-year contract with Orange
Business Services for a global wide area
network (WAN). The network meets
Polynt’s requirement for a seamless, global
end-to-end communications solution.
The new infrastructure will help Polynt,
based in Bergamo, Italy, drive innovation
inside the organisation and take full
advantage of further digitalisation. It
will connect 44 sites in 15 countries
across four continents, including North
and Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Other benefits include increased network
performance with redundancy and high
resiliency. By consolidating network
design and maintenance with one single
provider, Polynt will reduce complexity
and strengthen application performance
and agility.

Orange Business Services will also
provide Enterprise Application
Management with Riverbed, a
fully-managed service that delivers
application acceleration and WAN
optimisation. This will significantly
improve the end-user experience
of using enterprise applications by
accelerating response times. It will also
give Polynt more visibility on the network
and applications and allow it to use data
centres more effectively.
For this project, Proximus, Belgium’s largest
telco operator, worked in close partnership
with Nokia’s team located in Antwerp, a
Belgium World Competence Centre. TITAN
will connect Proximus’ mobile, high-speed
DSL and FTTH networks. The upgraded
backbone will provide support for new
services such as augmented and Virtual
Reality, IoT and the rollout of 5G.
“Developing a global WAN with
Orange Business Services will allow
us to gain central control over our
global IT infrastructure and to simplify
contract management, making it
easier to accelerate integration of
new acquisitions to support our global
expansion,” said Annamaria Codari,
Global IT Director at Polynt.
