EDITOR ’ S NOTE

Welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent

CIO magazine for the APAC region . This edition is the first to feature our new design . We ’ ve introduced a fresher , more modern look which we hope is to your liking .
This month ’ s cover features Vikram Sinha , Director and Chief Operating Officer at Indosat Ooredoo . In a comprehensive interview we talk about how the company has set about meeting Indonesia ’ s needs to bring it closer to its vision of becoming the country ’ s leading digital telecommunications provider . As the Indonesian market adapts to new challenges , he discusses how telecommunications providers must grow their digital offerings to ensure future-proofing .
“ Indonesia is one of the largest and fastest-developing emerging markets in the world and is Southeast Asia ’ s biggest digital economy ,” he says . “ Due to the geographical spread of its population there is a growing demand for reliable and affordable Internet connectivity in urban and rural areas , especially as data usage surpasses traditional calling and texting services . Additionally , the rise in remote working due to COVID-19 has accelerated demand for greater online functionality .” To read more of his views turn to page 48 .
Elsewhere in the magazine we learn how The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland ( RACQ ), Queensland ’ s leading auto club , car insurer and mutual bank , has improved service delivery five-fold , reducing footprint and setting a foundation for an AI and a robot-driven future with Nutanix . Ben Johnston , General Manager Security and Shared ICT Services at RACQ , said : “ One of my teams would spend far too much of their time dealing with hardware updates and firmware fixes – now it ’ s just not an issue . I now have a team who no longer have to run hardware as their primary day job ; instead , they ’ re now providing more value by developing our capabilities in the automation , orchestration , security and optimization spaces .” There ’ s much more detail about this implementation on page 56 .
Elsewhere , starting on page 36 we hear from George Tsoukas , ANZ Manager , Gigamon . He tells us how HR and IT teams must work together to make sure remote working is as safe as possible . “ It ’ s HR ’ s responsibility to help IT teams drive education around cybersecurity risks and how a Zero Trust model is crucial to mitigating them ,” he says . “ It ’ s also useful , as part of internal comms , to share tips on how to stay alert and , for example , detect social engineering attacks . This education , alongside solid network visibility , is the first step to protecting the organization against cybercrime .”
