EDITOR ’ S NOTE

Welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent CIO magazine for the APAC region . This month ’ s cover features Wiremu Doherty , CEO , Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi , a publicly owned tertiary education institution based in Whakatane , New Zealand , which provides education in a Māori cultural context to 6,000 students . The organization has deployed a comprehensive solution from Tribal to improve the student experience from enquiry and enrolment to graduation and alumni . Tribal Group won the contract following an extensive procurement process during which Awanuiārangi concluded that the Tribal Student Management System ( SMS ) was most suited for the educator ’ s requirements for a student management system .

“ We selected Tribal as they met our business needs in a forward-thinking way ,” said Doherty . “ Their product offers powerful workflows , reporting solutions , integrated time tabling and various stakeholder portals .” You can find out more about the deployment by turning to p56 .
Elsewhere , we look at how Toyota Motors has enabled its teams – particularly its Engineering Design Group who rely on intensive 3D CAD software – to work from home . Its previous solution was unable to support high performance applications like CAD so it has adopted the Nutanix cloud platform to build a VDI environment to support the demands of its engineering team . Yugo Ichida , of the Commercial ZEV Fundamental
Development Division , said : “ When we would go to manufacturing sites for meetings , we had no choice but to present our designs using paper drawings . I always thought , ‘ Communication would be smoother if I could use 3D CAD .’ Now , we can have deeper and better discussions while looking at the 3D CAD models together .” Turn to p61 to find out more .
In this month ’ s Final Word , we take a look at how a study from Genpact provides actionable insights from CIOs on how to accelerate Digital Transformation for a post-pandemic world . Genpact ’ s research presents the views of 500 CIOs and technology leaders globally , 50 of whom are in Australia , on lessons learned in weathering the storm of the pandemic and preparedness for the journey forward .
Sanjay Srivastava , Chief Digital Officer , Genpact , said : “ Transformation pilot CIOs that drive alignment across the C-suite and put the organizational focus on building resilience and innovation will be the co-creators of new business models and future-ready companies .
