EDITOR ’ S NOTE

Welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent CIO magazine for the APAC region . This month ’ s cover features an exclusive interview with Frances Waterford , CIO at Cancer Council NSW . She tells us Australia ’ s leading cancer charity is eliminating data duplications and automating user experiences with the Boomi integration platform . Boomi , a Dell Technologies business and a leading provider of cloud-based integration platform as a service ( iPaaS ), has announced that Cancer Council NSW has leveraged the Boomi integration platform to connect core operational systems , delivering the real-time data visibility the not-for-profit ( NFP ) needed to establish a single view of its constituents . The project also helped automate a multitude of previously manual processes , with the productivity returns allowing Cancer Council to reinvest supporter dollars where they are needed most amid its pandemic response .

“ By leveraging the Boomi platform to integrate our business-critical applications , we have not just removed barriers between our teams , but established a foundation through which we can use real-time data to better understand our constituents , comprising supporters , volunteers and clients ,” said Waterford . “ This level of intelligence has shaped informed decision-making as we continue to transform our services for those stakeholders .” You can find out more about this deployment by turning to p56 .
Elsewhere in the magazine , we look at how Inmarsat , a world leader in global , mobile satellite communications , has been working with its partner Globalsat to provide the McMillan Pastoral Company , a large cattle business based in Queensland , with a cost-effective , mobile and reliable connectivity solution using Inmarsat ’ s Broadband Global Area Network ( BGAN ) satellite service .
Jane McMillan , Grazier at McMillan Pastoral Company , said : “ Although many of our cattle stations use satellite dishes to provide Wi-Fi , it requires the user being in close proximity to the router to maintain a stable connection . However , many of our cattle stations are very large , with people needing to work away from the main building . Similarly , when using the portable satellite phones , each one operates on a unique dedicated number , so we have to rely on multiple different lines for business communications . This is not ideal , as it can lead to serious complications when dealing with customers and associates . We needed to find a cheaper and more reliable alternative that would allow each member of our team to instantly connect their personal devices to the Internet from any location – even when traveling between cattle stations where network coverage is unavailable .” You can find out more by turning to p61 .
