Five cooperation protocols have been signed in Egypt. The Minister of
Communications and Information Technology, Yasser ElKady, and the Minister
of Planning and Administrative Reform, Hala Al-Saeed, witnessed the signing
ceremony of the protocols with the governors of Port Said, Dakahlia, Qalioubia,
Luxor and Fayoum. The protocols will automate and develop business in the
governorates’ headquarters and progress technological solutions for the
national micro and small enterprises in each governorate.
The protocols are part of implementing the Ministry of Communications
and Information Technology’s strategic plan objectives for developing the
IT industry through the Egyptian ICT Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises,
and contributing to the development of the administrative system. The
protocols are also in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Planning, Follow-
up and Administrative Reform, and the Egyptian Government’s Sustainable
Development Plan (Egypt Vision 2030).
UGANDA
During the World Economic Forum in May this year, Siemens signed a Memorandum
of Understanding with Uganda to cooperate in the areas of power supply, industry,
transportation and healthcare and to focus on infrastructure investments and partnerships
between public and private sectors. Siemens is now further supporting Uganda’s power
goals with diamond sponsorship for Future Energy Uganda.
“In Uganda, Siemens’ primary goal is to assist the government to increase national
power generating capacities and to connect the local population to the power grids. A
reliable and extensive power supply system is the fundamental prerequisite for sustainable
development, economic growth and job creation.” This is according to Sabine Dall’Omo,
CEO, Siemens Southern and Eastern Africa, who is a featured panellist at the opening
session of the upcoming Future Energy Uganda from 13-14 September in Kampala.
