XON’s Gold certifications boost Huawei’s
data centre edge in African market
XON already has numerous installations of Huawei data
centre (DC) solutions in South Africa, including the largest
single Huawei converged infrastructure deployment in
the country. Other deployments range across the Huawei
solution set including data centre equipment, server
utilisation, disaster recovery (DR) and backup solutions.
XON selected Huawei for its turnkey solution set
extending from the desktop to the network and the
vendor’s willingness to create flexible solutions
dependent on customer requirements, legacy
infrastructures, and strategic goals.
“Huawei has proved to be extremely flexible in its
approach to meeting enterprise customer needs,” says
Barr, “which broadens their appeal even further. The
Huawei equipment has the DNA of carrier-class
solutions since it was originally developed for that
environment where high availability (HA) demands are
among the most stringent in the world. Service
providers in the carrier space cannot afford downtime
since they lose enormous revenues for every minute,”
says Barr. “Huawei has brought that level of expertise to
the enterprise equipment.”

percentage of its technicians in the Huawei labs in
China for pre-sales, sales and field engineering.
“The certifications demonstrate our ongoing commitment to
one of the most open, flexible and turnkey solutions for
modern data centres in the market today,” says Jason Barr,
Divisional Head of Storage and Availability at XON. “As a
systems integrator, we can select the partners we feel best
meet the needs of our customers and that’s unquestionably
Huawei with its open standards, flexible approach and
carrier-grade high availability DNA.”

“We are very pleased to have XON on board our partner
ecosystem. As a strategic supplier to service
telecommunication and cloud infrastructure service
providers, we found that there was a shared
commitment in helping industry customers grow by
leveraging leading and innovative ICT technologies. We
look forward to XON integrating Huawei products and
solutions into their services offerings to provide
optimum solutions for our customers,” says Daniel Liu,
Channel Director of the Huawei Enterprise Business
Group for Southern Africa.
The Huawei enterprise data centre solution set
comprises networking, cloud, modular and
management software solutions.
“Huawei has designed its solutions to meet the needs of
enterprises as ICT solutions are transforming the enterprise
data centre into a more critical and highly visible resource
where IT organisations are challenged to provide end users
resilient access to information and tools they can use to
rapidly provision new equipment and services,” says Barr.
Huawei provides complete data centre solutions to support
high-availability applications that monitor, see and control
business processes, to enable effective collaboration within the
enterprise and among its partners, vendors and customers. n
