CIOs must adopt a multi-layer and multifaceted approach to endpoint security .

As the threat landscape is evolving , legacy endpoint security approaches will not work effectively and are potentially more vulnerable to cyberattacks . Traditional solutions lack support for a layered defence strategy on endpoints . Therefore , CIOs , should adapt to advanced endpoint protection ( AEP ). This next-generation endpoint security uses the latest Artificial Intelligence ( AI ), Machine Learning and provides real-time analysis of the user and system behaviour which protects the network from “ zero-day attack ” as well as threats on endpoints with greater efficiency and speed .

CIOs and CSOs are facing imminent threat from intrusions in the IoT age and proliferation of dark web driven raiders . While this has increased threat perceptions there is still a trust / knowledge deficit in most corporate environments . Many a time it is a classic case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted . We believe that businesses have to make conscious decisions of cybersecurity threats , and this should be classified as the first milestone for any IT leader irrespective of the size of the business . Additionally , the mitigation plan must be clearly defined to all stake holders and a buy in sought and executed . Shared responsibility would go a long way to establish the same .
Deploying cybersecurity in an existing infrastructure has various design and implementation challenges .
As companies adopt Digital Transformation to improve their business and make it more efficient , the threat landscape is also increasing . Hackers are becoming more creative hence CIOs cannot afford to ignore security and must re-evaluate their security policies to ensure they are aligned with today ’ s needs . CIOs face many challenges in implementing endpoint protection strategies , including :
• Enforcement of Web Policies and Compliance Enforcement – Enforcing a common company ’ s Internet / web usage policy in a distributed / hybrid workforce . And outside the office workplace , people are more likely to open malicious contents or forwarded links that will compromise the network . Hence CIOs must adopt a multi-layer and multifaceted approach to endpoint security .
• Deploying cybersecurity in an existing infrastructure has various design and implementation challenges
• Stopping Advanced Threats legacy endpoint security approaches can sometimes leave gaps or bypass in detecting and mitigating the advance threats . Traditional solutions lack support for a layered defence strategy on endpoints . So CIOs , should adapt to Advanced Endpoint Protection ( AEP ) solutions like XDR ( Extended Detection and Response ) which is a new approach to overall proactive approach to threat detection and response and optimises security operation .
As companies move towards Digital Transformation to improve their business efficiencies , they cannot ignore security which is an integral part of this process . This is due to the Digital Transformation journey which involves products from multiple vendor ’ s that necessitates the provision of access to remote workers , using either the company or personal networks on various platforms . Organisations must establish consistent security policies across networks which require greater security than conventional networks .
