Visa highlights innovation capabilities that will drive financial inclusion in Sub-Saharan Africa

Visa , a global leader in digital payments , recently showcased key innovation capabilities that will accelerate financial inclusion in Sub-Saharan Africa .

Hosting industry stakeholders at an event focused on innovation , the company highlighted co-creation as an essential component in developing market-ready payment solutions to accelerate access to financial services .
Speaking during the 2021 Visa Africa Innovation for Inclusion Summit , Aida Diarra , Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager , Sub-Saharan Africa , Visa , said that over the last decade Visa has taken a keen focus in collaborating with key players across the payments landscape to enable access to digital payments .
“ We continue to partner with leading players in Sub-Saharan Africa including banks , FinTechs , neo-banks and telecommunications companies to enable new payment experiences that accelerate inclusion across the region ,” said Diarra .
“ Some of our latest partnerships are leveraging the power of mobile as an access point to financial inclusion , including a partnership to develop products that will expand access to digital payments at scale for over 30 million mobile money customers . We are also driving access for small businesses through the launches of tap to phone and an exciting pilot that will serve as a solution to help small business owners digitise their business , covering payments , point of sale ( PoS ) and access to credit , via a mobile device ,” she added .

Djibouti schools to get 100,000 MyOffice licences

MyOffice the Russian developer of office software for collaborative document processing and communication , has announced a milestone agreement with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training of the Republic of Djibouti . The agreement calls for 100,000 Russian software licences to be supplied to state and municipal schools , kindergartens , colleges and vocational training institutions in Djibouti .

The agreement has been signed between Djibouti ’ s Minister of National Education and Vocational Training , H . E Moustapha Mohamed Mahamoud and the Russian software vendor INDEPENDENCE . DIGITAL , MyOffice distribution partner in Africa .
“ MyOffice educational products fully satisfy our software requirements for the education system of Djibouti . They are universal ,
designed for use on any computers or mobile gadgets , and offer all the tools necessary to process files in a text or spreadsheet form . With their intuitive interface and easy to learn functionality , MyOffice products will help upgrade the teaching of basic digital literacy and computing skills in our schools ,” said Mahamoud .
The parties have agreed that , in addition to the licenses , INDEPENDENCE . DIGITAL will provide advisory services in office software and secure document and user data management technology .
Dmitry Komissarov , CEO , MyOffice , said : “ The agreement to supply MyOffice software licences to educational institutions in Djibouti represents an important milestone in bolstering trade and economic cooperation between our countries . We see great demand for Russian IT products on the African continent today .”
