Liquid Intelligent Technologies empowers youth with Innovation and Digital Centre

Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams , Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies , said : “ A key aspect of economic development and growth is the ability to enhance competitiveness through skills and competencies that are on par with international markets . The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies pro-actively developed the National Digital and Future Skills strategy to keep pace with the advancement of technology .”

As part of its commitment to fostering innovation and building digital skills , even in the remotest part of the country , Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa , has heralded in a new digital dawn in the Eastern Cape with the opening of the first Innovation and Digital Skills Centre ( IDSC ) in Mthatha .

Through the initiative , communities close to the centres will be exposed to local learning and business opportunities . The IDSC will serve as a technology hub where learners and entrepreneurs can equip themselves with the latest and most relevant digital skills .

Mabuyane , Premier , Eastern Cape Provincial Government , said : “ It is indeed heartening to see social partners , across the spectrum , including business , heed the call by government , to join in the pact towards a better life for all – of our people . Through innovation and digital technologies , we have the potential to tap into the full potential of the Eastern Cape and her peoples .”

Ada Labs Africa and AICE lead next generation of AI innovation in Africa with NVIDIA

Ada Labs Africa and AI Centre of Excellence ( AICE ) have announced an initiative with NVIDIA to contribute to the digitisation of the African continent through Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) and collaborate on a number of data science and AI projects .

John Kamara , CEO , Ada Labs Africa , said the relationship will strengthen the capability of data science and AI rollouts in Africa as the two organisations collectively work to build capacity to train AI engineers in Africa . The new initiative will also address the scarcity and cost of skilled AI engineers .
“ Our journey in contributing to digitise the African continent has taken another important leap because of this initiative . We have invested heavily in infrastructure and platforms that will enable digitisation of some of the key sectors affecting African growth and understand the critical role of AI in achieving our mission efficiently .
“ However , if we do not have enough qualified people to manage AI systems , our efforts will be futile .
“ This collaboration will help develop solutions , methodologies and best practices that are mutually beneficial for our companies , clients and market as a whole ,” said Kamara .
The AI centre for excellence in Nairobi has already started training the first cohort of 40 AI engineers as part of this initiative and launched a CEO roundtable series to demystify AI for C-level executives across Africa . p
