According to the FinTech , its business in South Africa was initially launched in 2010 as a joint venture with Inter-Africa , a Bureau de Change .
Two years later , Mukuru created a free customer USSD platform , splitting a transaction into its various parts .

Africa-based FinTech Mukuru , has partnered with global payments network Thunes . The partnership will initially extend Mukuru ’ s reach in Nigeria followed by a rapid rollout to other countries including DRC , Ethiopia , Senegal and India as well as connect Mukuru users to Thunes ’ global interoperable network which operates in more than 100 countries .

Other partnerships have followed with the likes of retail giant Shoprite / Checkers as payin / payout points and in the last 12 months , Mukuru became a payout partner for WorldRemit customers across territories where Mukuru has its own booth .

BMCI launches digital bank Masrvi

Trade ( BMCI ) has partnered with TagPay to rollout its digital bank Masrvi , aimed at providing digital , value-added financial services to its customers .
Powered by TagPay , Masrvi was launched in April 2021 and responds to Mauritanians ’ banking needs by providing secure and accessible banking services , across the country through mobile networks , whilst offering convenience . In addition , Masrvi enables BMCI to provide its customers with secure , simple , fast and easy-to-access banking products and services that can be tailored to their needs , all with a convenience that traditional banks cannot match .
