Egyptian Universities advance learning and collaboration with Juniper Networks

African Development Bank signs grant agreement to support the Rwanda Coding Academy

Juniper Networks , a global provider of secure , AI-driven networks , has announced that Egyptian Universities Network ( EUN ), connecting public universities across Egypt , has deployed Juniper ’ s core network solutions to enable advanced learning and collaboration for 27 public universities across Egypt .

By providing a reliable , stable and secure WAN , EUN is now able to offer first-class VoIP , Internet access , email and video conferencing for students and staff , academics and researchers .
Egypt is in the midst of an education resurgence , following the government declaring 2019 as the ‘ Year of Education .’
Eng Tarek Edris , Operations and Technical Support Department Head , Egyptian Universities Network , said : “ Today , about 30 % of Egyptians take advantage of a university education and with a burgeoning population , those numbers will grow . With an aim to meet the growing demand for learning and collaboration , EUN plans to invest more in our network so we can continue serving the people who are studying and doing research .”
Yarob Sakhnini , Vice President , Sales , Emerging Markets , EMEA , Juniper Networks , said : “ Today ’ s university students rely heavily on digital tools like email , video conferencing , Internet access for their courses , collaboration and communication . The demands of online classes put even more stress on the network .”

The African Development Bank has signed a grant agreement with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation in Rwanda to support the Rwanda Coding Academy , set up to develop top technology talent to drive a booming , innovation-driven digital economy in the East African nation .

The Rwanda Coding Academy was established as a proof-of-concept ( PoC ) model school for developing ICT and other 21st century skills for high school level students who want to pursue a career in coding and computer science .
The grant funding of US $ 150,000 , from the Rockefeller Trust Fund which the Bank administers , will be directed to the implementation of activities , including acquisition of computers and furniture equipment for an ultramodern innovation centre of excellence ,
Internet connectivity , teacher training and organisation of job career orientation events .
Paula Ingabire , Minister for ICT and Innovation , said the Rwandan government welcomed the partnership with the African Development Bank . “ The Rwanda Coding Academy is part of our broader vision to grow a local pool of highly talented Pan-African workforce in science , technology and innovation ,” she said .
“ This collaboration between the Bank and the Government of Rwanda aims to demonstrate that empowering African youth with demand-driven skills and providing them with opportunities to be part of the ICT ecosystem as early as possible ,” said Nnenna Nwabufo , Acting Director General for the African Development Bank ’ s Eastern Region .
