Egypt ’ s Minister of Communications and Information Technology , Amr Talaat , has outlined the steps the country is taking to implement its national strategy for AI . Talaat said that a promising capacity building programme had been launched with the aim of introducing all segments of society to AI .

The Ethiopian Communication Authority ( ECA ) is under preparation to float an international tender that would enable it to select two international telecom firms which will operate in Ethiopia by September 2020 . ECA plans to grant two licenses for international telecom firms by end of this year . As part of the national telecom liberalisation reform programme , the authority invited international telecom firms to submit expression of interest in operating in Ethiopia .
