FEATURE
the enterprise IT environment. By bringing Ansible
automation across its portfolio – including Red Hat
Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red
Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Storage and its management
offerings – Red Hat will be able to deliver strategic
automation technology to enterprises.
Bringing this vision to life, Red Hat announced new
innovations in its management portfolio, integrating
Ansible automation to help enterprises transform their
IT operations by creating a system of enterprise-wide
automation, allowing IT staff to free up from remedial
tasks to focus on innovation that can create value.
With Ansible automation integration in Red Hat
Insights, its predictive analytics and actionable
intelligence platform, Red Hat is enabling automated
resolution of critical security risks by dynamically
creating Ansible Playbooks.
Automating the cloud with Ansible
To unite automation efforts, Red Hat’s CloudForms
4.5 will include an industry-first Ansible automation-
based approach to multi-cloud management. This
latest version will natively support Ansible Playbooks
to make it easier to deploy IT services across clouds,
enabling users to automate a wide range of policies
and processes with no coding or scripting required.
Joe Fitzgerald, Vice President, Management, Red Hat
“By many metrics,
Ansible has been a
huge disruptor in
automation and has
the potential to take
enterprise IT by
storm by becoming a
de facto standard
for automation.”
As enterprise IT platforms are transformed into a set
of dynamic, virtualised infrastructures both on and
off-premises, they introduce significant complexities
around self-service, governance and compliance,
resource management, financial controls and
capacity planning.
With Red Hat CloudForms 4.5, organisations can
more quickly and easily publish fully automated
IT services, providing their end-users with policy
controlled, self-service lifecycle management of their
resources, while maintaining greater visibility and
management capabilities for disparate resources.
Based on the open-source ManageIQ project, Red
Hat CloudForms is a multi-cloud management
platform (CMP). It gives IT operations teams a
system to detect and respond to environment
changes by tracking activities, capturing events and
detecting configuration changes.
CloudForms also provides IT organisations with
the ability to monitor utilisation and capacity via
customisable policies for governance and compliance
enforcement, as well as tools for IT financial
management by using consumption data and billing
rates to generate chargeback reporting.
Red Hat CloudForms 4.5 natively integrates Ansible.
