EGYPT The Minister of Military Production, Mohamed Al-Assar, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with representatives of Newton, a leading Saudi company, to deepen the use of technological applications in various economic and social fields. The newly signed MoU is part of the ministry’s strategy to collaborate with Saudi companies to transfer new technologies to Egypt in the fields of marketing services, technical co-operation, and maintaining training at the ministry of military production’ subsidiaries. UGANDA Chinese electronics firm, ENGO Holdings Ltd, has begun construction of a mobile phone and laptop computer manufacturing and assembly plant in Uganda. At the signing ceremony, the State Minister for Finance, Investment and Planning, Evelyne Anite, said some of the gadgets to be assembled and manufactured at the plant will have self- charging solar units making them suitable for rural areas. The company’s flagship brand is Simi Mobile and both analogue and smartphones will be manufactured.
