PROJECT UPDATE LATEST REGIONAL PROJECT UPDATE MOROCCO EON Reality, a world leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge transfer, together with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has launched the first Interactive Digital Centre (IDC) in Morocco. Located on Mohammed VI Polytechnic University’s campus in Ben Guerir, the new IDC will provide Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) technology, solutions, and products to Morocco’s growing Digital Transformation of the academic, industrial and government sectors. Aside from the hardware and technology available at the IDC, the spread of the AVR Platform across Morocco will help to train the next generation of AVR professionals. Through a close collaboration with professors and academic experts, the IDC will also design and adapt AVR learning applications and solutions for universities and various vocational training centres. COTE D’IVOIRE ENGIE has been selected for the operation and maintenance of the Orange Services Group’s data centre in Abidjan, for a five-year contract. This data centre of the latest generation, built by the Orange Services Group (GOS), is one of the few data centres in West Africa that meets the highest standards of security and redundancy to ensure continuity of service in all circumstances. Built on the Free Zone of Grand-Bassam, located 40 km from Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire, the building has a floor area of 1,450 m² including a 420 m² computer room and the next- generation data centre has a power capacity of 1.3 MW and a design which is oriented towards reliability and energy optimisation of data storage. 22 INTELLIGENTCIO www.intelligentcio.com
