NEWS Andela officials discuss building capacities of software developers A mr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has received a delegation from Andela – a specialised company in building the capabilities of software developers in the African continent. Routed signs expansion agreement for subscription business software Routed has signed an expansion agreement to take further advantage of subscription business management software from Ubersmith The delegation was headed by Andela Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Christina Sass and was attended by Maha Rashad, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and Sabrina Roshan, Andela-Director of Expansion Strategy. During the meeting, Talaat welcomed the executive steps taken by the company towards setting up a headquarters in Egypt in cooperation with ITIDA to prepare Egyptian calibers in the field of software and IT services, thus providing job opportunities for them at various international companies. He highlighted Egypt’s interest in supporting African youth to enable them to enter national and international markets and polishing their skills in the ICT field. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the efforts and initiatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and its affiliates in building capacities of young people and polishing their skills. These initiatives entail the presidential initiative which aims to train more than 10,000 Egyptian and African young people on the development of digital applications and games and establish about 100 African start-ups.
