This month’s front cover features the work Decision Inc has done with Attacq, a real estate company that is ranked among the top 15 real estate companies listed on the JSE by market capitalisation and is included in the FTSE/JSE South African Property Yield (SAPY) Index. In South Africa, Attacq has 1,056 tenants, so managing building needs is a huge operational requirement and is fundamental to the brand of the business. A pilot programme using the MyBuildings mobile app as an operations management tool was implemented in October 2017. The MyBuildings app gives Attacq’s management real-time information, with operational needs being addressed expeditiously. Outstanding tasks can be tracked centrally, continuously improving tenant and customer service. The company decided to enhance it with an overlay of Decision Inc’s analytical reporting features using the Qlik solution. One of the strengths of the approach is that Attacq can easily compare overall www.intelligentcio.com operational metric performance and measure that against key performance indicators while still having the ability to drill right down to granular source data. We are now two months into 2019 and many organisations are looking at how they can improve their security measures. To help, Ashraf Sheet, Regional Director, Middle East and Africa at Infoblox, has provided a list of cybersecurity trends that he says will ‘significantly alter the landscape’ this year. This includes attacks powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI); adhering to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); and securing Internet of Things (IoT) devices. When you think of a country that has a lot of potential when it comes to technology, Angola probably doesn’t instantly come to mind. But the Southern African nation is set to benefit from significant investments, especially in agricultural technology. This includes US$200 million from the UAE that will go towards 18 agricultural technology centres, while Vietnam has joined forces to increase cooperation in agriculture and technology, as part of the ongoing economic diversification process in the country.
