edition of Intelligent CIO Africa – the
first of 2019. Featured on the front
cover is Ernst Karner, Group IT Manager
and CIO of Peermont Hotels, Casinos and
Resorts. He explains how the award-winning
hospitality and entertainment company
turned to Veeam to implement hyper-
availability solutions.
Peermont has staff working in three shifts
across 12 properties and has been operating
in an always-on environment since it opened
its doors more than two decades ago. Karner
tells us that the company previously had
some incidents where recovery from its
backups was not possible and it did not have
the level of comfort that all backups were
done reliably. However, thanks to Veeam,
backups that previously took Peermont a
day to complete at each of its properties can
now be done in under 15 minutes, resulting
in significant savings.
