Digital divide
The global business and consumer population is well into the fourth industrial revolution encompassing cloud , mobile , data , and social technologies , across every country . But the extent of its penetration and adoption and the ease of access to it , vary greatly across these countries . Developed countries of the West are rebuilding institutions of governance , regulation , business competition , in phase with the penetration of digital technologies . But many of the emerging countries including much of Africa are lagging behind in the non-digital side of matters . This is increasingly creating and accelerating the formation of a digital divide . This issue of Intelligent CIO Africa looks at the various advancements in digital enablement and challenges of digital divide across the African continent . The successful roll out of the Ethiopian banking switch project , the pilot implementation of the Nigerian driving license , the opportunities of digital banking , the changing nature of storage solution and ERP , are the lead articles in this issue .
