"Letter" continued from page 1 our outlook on research. We are striving to— Think big – focusing on multifaceted and interdisciplinary projects that address regional and national priorities. Think together – concentrating on harnessing the power of our fellow members, as well as our national and international academic colleagues and industry partners to discover, explore, and execute new ideas and technologies. This year will prove to be an important one for the ICC, as we make strides in our current research, launch into new projects, forge new partnerships, and continue to grow together. Please feel free to reach out with questions or comments. Min Song, ICC Founding Director What can the ICC do for you? "Momentum" continued from page 1 Philart Jeon, ICC Director of the Center for Human-Centered Computing, who were recently awarded a grant from the US Department of Transportation for the NURail Center, the first USDOT OST-R University Transportation Center dedicated to the advancement of North American rail transportation, along with three other distinguished researchers. Min Song, ICC Founding Director, also commented on the unique nature of the ICC, “We are striving to create an atmosphere of innovation and excitement surrounding computing and cybersystems. Multidisciplinary collaboration is at the heart of our efforts.” Michigan Tech Alumni and philanthropist, Dave House has also been supportive of the ICC's mission and is confident of its success. He showed his support with a generous donation from The House Family Foundation in late December. This gift is helping to support the salaries of visiting personnel (see page 7 for details.) Continuing the momentum into the new year, the ICC officially announced the launch of its new website in late January. (http://icc.mtu.edu) As the ICC approaches the anniversary of its first year in operation, leaders and members are gearing up for another successful year of research. Keep an eye out for news and events in upcoming quarterly newsletters and on the website.
