With the advancement of computer programming, complex and higher dimensional tessellation art have become possible. Robert Fathauer, mathematician and physicist, has created his tessellations almost exclusively on computers so as to better realize the intricacies of his designs. Also, unlike Escher, whose tessellations consisted of tiles fit together in a singular way, Fathauer’s tessellations are made up of tiles that can be fit together in a number of combinations.
