The original maple leaf in Stanley’s design had 13 points but Matheson suggested an 11-point design after wind tunnel tests showed it to be the least blurry of the two variants when tested under high-wind conditions. He supervised the stylization which was done by graphic artist Jacques Saint-Cyr. Joan O’Malley sewed a cloth prototype which was presented to the Prime Minister, while Yvonne Diceman, artist and calligrapher, prepared the Royal Proclamation of the Canadian Flag.
