10. Wash the stencil then repeat steps 6-9 to cover the remaining fondant (be careful not to place the stencil on any moist royal icing because it will smudge it!).

11. Once the strip of fondant is covered with your pattern, let it dry for 2-3 more minutes.

12. Now, carefully pick up your strip of fondant and wrap it around the cake layer, smoothing it as you do.

13. Where the ends meet, you will have excess fondant, so take a knife and cut a flush seam.

14. If you want, you can smooth out this seam using some white royal icing, or water on a paintbrush.

15. Repeat steps 1-14 for each layer of your cake.

16. For the top of your cake, you can do something very similar to the sides by cutting out a circle of white fondant.

17. Place your stencil over the center of the circle and spread royal icing over it.

18. Scrape off the excess icing.

19. Let your circle of fondant dry for 2-3 minutes then peel away the stencil.

20. Affix the circle atop the cake.

21. Keep decorating as you please. I placed a string of beads along the seams and added some elephant figurines for the photos. And voila...!
