I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was six years old. Ulcerative Colitis is a silent disease; people can’t see how much doesn’t take a toll on your appearance as much as it does on the inside. I struggled throughout my elementary years with this disease but not as bad as I struggled through middle school. I barely went to school and went to the hospital quite a few times a year. I had numerous procedures such as endoscopies and freshman high school year was by far the sickest I had ever been. I went to the hospital each week to get infusions and did nothing much more than sleep and use the bathroom because of the toll that the disease took on my body. I had high fevers all the time and was 2012 I got my colon removed and ever since then I have made an astonishing recovery! I had another surgery this past and kids struggling with Crohn’s or 30 Inspired left a legacy and a lasting impact on each person he met. He was the biggest aspiring philanthropist I knew and I am grateful for his friendship. Cory suffered from Crohn’s disease and passed away from osteosarcoma. The memory of Cory Lane is carried on through this newsletter as we were supposed to be co-founders of this newsletter. and Sew Fun Club. I am a committee chairperson of our Riley Committee at Center Grove and love to speak at dance I volunteer at Community Hospital South every weekend and I play tennis on the school’s tennis team each spring. Something good always comes out of student at Center Grove High School. Sneha was a 2014 Riley Champion and is a remarkable young lady. who inspired me and reminded me to stay positive even though he wasn’t necessarily there with me. Unfortunately the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). I have been an invited speaker for CCFA fundraising on numerous occasions. I am also involved surely feeling much better. of this contest is Sneha anniversary this past summer. It is slowly but steadily expanding and reaching out to more teens with each issue released. I am super passionate about this newsletter because it is so personal. I want to make sure that teens suffering with this illness never feel alone in their struggles. I realized that there was not enough support for teens with Crohn’s and Colitis. about and because of how far we live from each other. This was the foundation for the my newsletter the Crohn’s and Colitis Teen Times. The Crohn’s and I am very grateful to Riley Hospital for giving me a chance to be a Riley champion this year. Being a Riley Champion has provided me with a incredible opportunity to meet many inspirational people and pushed me even further to give back to our society and communities.
