Introducing A New Nursing Organization : Black Nurses Rock Houston Chapter
The Houston Chapter of Black Nurses Rock was established by eight ambitious African-American nurses . Dr . Bridgett Jenkins is the president and CEO of the local Houston Chapter which was founded in March 2016 . The mission of the Houston Chapter is to gather black nurses & their supporters together to empower , educate , mentor and serve the Houston and surrounding communities through education and service .
The Houston Chapter made their debut in April 2016 by hosting a official meet and greet . The event was sold out with over 100 participants and six vendors .
As the CEO & leader of the Houston Chapter of Black Nurses Rock , Dr . Bridgette is committed to changing the lives of the citizens in the Houston area and surrounding communities . Dr . Bridgette also plans to offer scholarship and mentoring programs to those seeking careers in the nursing profession and to those seeking advanced nursing degrees . BNR-Houston also aspires to offer services to the community before , during and after a disaster .
Their overall mission is to " inspire and empower innovative leaders that will serve and educate vulnerable communities ". This local chapter of Black Nurses Rock sits under the National umbrella of Black Nurses Rock , Inc . which was founded in 2014 by Dr . Romeatrius Moss . The non-profit organization has become the largest online community where over 200,000 professional nurses share , network , and develop together . Black Nurses Rock has also become the largest African-American Nursing organization in the United States . The organization focuses on providing support and mentorship to nurses in an effort to elevate the profession and to improve communities .
