SPORTING SUCCESS
Participation in sport not only helps to provide a healthy lifestyle, by
improving physical fitness, but also confidence and teamwork. Along with
a spirit of
healthy
competition,
this helps
develop key
parts of a
cadet’s life. It
is for these
reasons that all
cadets are
given the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sporting competitions
throughout the year. In 2015, Northumbria ACF entered teams into
competitions for athletics, swimming, football, rugby, hockey and climbing. All events involved both boys and girls, apart from rugby
(boys only) and hockey (girls only). Competitions were held at County, Regional and National levels. Senior cadets (16 years+) can apply
for the Community Sports Leadership Course. Run twice yearly it leads to the Sports Leaders UK, Level 2 Award in Community Sports
Leadership. Adult volunteers can also be trained as coaches and referees.
In recent years Northumbria ACF have developed an enviable record for sporting
success, and this year was no different. Under the leadership of Sergeant Major
Instructor (SMI) Rob Aldcroft our teams notched up the following results:
