- The ability to modify our lifestyle is also becoming easier. Eco-conscious alternatives are becoming more normalised & readily incorporated into our culture. Hybrid cars, reusable water bottles & sustainable clothing are all examples of a more eco-friendly lifestyle which is on the rise. Eco-friendly consumer ‘trends’ are being set.

- As the popularity & support for climate action increases, so does the expectation (& pressure) to conform. Many more people are thinking more carefully about the issues & as a result, are changing their beliefs & behaviours to ‘fit in.’ Whilst it is universally acknowledged that you can’t reverse climate change on your own, through conforming to collective norms, you can become part of the ‘bigger picture.’

Take-home message:

It is clear that we still have a long way to go when it comes to reversing climate change. However, some of the psychological barriers which previously prevented people engaging in climate action (i.e. denial, resistance to change & powerlessness), are slowly breaking down. Consequently, there has been a clear shift in peoples attitudes towards climate change acceptance & a willingness to act on this. The only question is, are you playing your part?

In the meantime, take care & I look forward to catching up in next month’s edition!
