MESSAGE FROM THE
PRESIDENT & CEO RAY VARA
Dear Friends:
It has indeed been a special year for Hawai`i Pacific Health. In June, we launched a new brand
and mission for the organization to emphasize our leadership position in the health care industry.
The changes underscore the benefits of our clinically integrated system, now more than 70
locations statewide.
This past year we opened the new Diamond Head Tower at Kapi`olani Medical Center for Women &
Children, which houses 70 state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care rooms and 14 pediatric intensive
care rooms. This is the first phase of a multiyear expansion to create needed space for the growing
medical center.
Last summer we also started construction of the new Hawai`i Pacific Health Cancer Center at Pali
Momi Medical Center. The project is being built in partnership with the Cancer Center of Hawai`i.
It will be Hawai`i's most comprehensive cancer treatment center providing diagnosis, treatment and
support services in one convenient location.
As we continue to lead the health care industry transformation, we will place an even greater
emphasis on technology and clinical integration with a more patient-centered approach to provide
a high-quality experience that ranks among the best in the industry.
This transformation will take time and considerable resources, which is why we truly appreciate your
past support and generosity. We simply would not be the growing and progressive organization we
are today without partners like you.
On behalf of the nearly 7,000 members of the Hawai`i Pacific Health family, which includes Kapi`olani
Medical Center, Pali Momi Medical Center, Straub Medical Center, Wilcox Medical Center and all of
our physicians, I’d like to say thank you for your past support and the confidence you have placed in
us. You can be sure we will continue to do everything we can to create a healthier Hawai`i.
Sincerely,
Ray Vara
