Going Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Gabby Douglas was excited to take part in her first workout since last August. This promising workout marks the first step in her attempt to make the U.S. Olympic team for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. Douglas likely will spend the next few months conditioning and seeing whether there’s enough time for her to pull off a comeback before the Rio Olympics in 2016. for Gold of training, but what she does mind is being away from her family, who live in another state from where she trains. She is extremely close with her mother, two older sisters and older brother, and she has been open about how hard it was to be separated from them while she trains in Iowa. But Douglas has learned over the years that she must make sacrifices in order to achieve her dreams. “I leaned, down the road, to keep fighting and never give up your passion because you don’t want to have any regrets. Sports critics say that comebacks are notoriously tough for gymnasts, who can feel as if they’re starting from scratch after just a few days out of the gym. But if there’s anyone who can pull it off, it’s Douglas, who went from an unknown to the Olympic Champion in less than two years. She won six medals at the last two Summer Games, three of them gold. Douglas, who turned 18 on Dec 31, has said repeatedly that she wants to compete in Rio. Douglas doesn’t mind the hard work I learned how to be tougher. My skin got a little thicker. During the Olympics I was dealing with a lot of pressure. We’re going to have those moments when we’re pressured, when everyone’s watching. My experience at the Olympics definitely changed me for the better,’ says Douglas. We wish her well and expect to see her competing in Rio in 2016. God’s Blessings!
