Soon we catch a bus and head off to the Oriental Pearl Tower, one of the icons of Shanghai. When we arrive, Russie is fascinated by its size and beauty. We take a lift and go to the top of the Tower.
“ Wow, the views are breath-taking!” Russie exclaims. We are lucky that it is a clear day because we can see all the way to the Yangtze River. We have a walk around exploring the rotating restaurant and the sightseeing floor. My teacher doesn’ t miss the chance to take lots of photos. On our way back we pop into the Science Museum which is at the base of the tower.
It’ s almost 1pm and Russie says she is hungry.“ Frank, where do you suggest we could have a bite to eat? I want to taste something traditional?”“ I know where I can take you, teacher” I reply,“ Let’ s go to Nanjing Road. We’ ll take the underground”.
It takes us about half an hour to get to Nanjing Road, which is really busy. It’ s lunch time and many people are out to do some shopping or have a spot of lunch on the famous street.
Russie and I decide to buy some roast duck with plum sauce from a food stall and share it.“ It is very delicious, Frank!” Russie says” The taste is totally different from the duck I have eaten in the Chinese restaurants in Europe”.
After a short walk, we decide to go to Madame Tussauds Shanghai Wax Museum, which is the sixth in the world. We have lots of fun taking photos with the figures of some popular Chinese people as well as world celebrities, such as David Beckham, Tom Cruise and Michael Jordan.
