Tell the students that they´ll watch a video about “Goal-setting” by Vishen Lakhiani, the founder of
Mindvalley. Play the video once and let them answer the following questions:
1. What is culturescape?
2. How has society programmed people to live?
3. What is the difference between means and end goals?
After checking the answers, ask the students to read their goals from Step 2 and decide if they are means or
end goals. Then play the video again and tell them to write down the three most important questions that
we need to ask ourselves when setting our goals.
Show the picture to your students. It illustrates the three most important questions that Vishen Lakhiani
mentions in the video. Ask the students to go back to their goals for the New Year and see how they could
change them bearing in mind the questions below. Hold a discussion on the changes they´ve made and how
they believe their new goals will affect their lives.
Finally the students have to write an email to themselves imagining that their future-self has sent it. In this
email their “future-self” has to tell them about the beautiful human experiences they have had, how much
they have grown to become the person they wanted to be and last but not least how they have contributed
to others and the world.
If you want, set a future time, let´s say the end of 2018 or in 10 years´ time.
